Tinctures are made from alcohol, these can be quick and easy to make or long and drawn out. Can be made either way, some say the longer it takes to make, the stronger the tincture. A 3 minute was can make a pretty good tincture. There are different methods and we'll look at a couple different ways to make them...
What you will need to make a tincture.
What you will need to make a tincture.
- Decarbed Cannabis 1 oz.
- Large Bowl.
- Strainer or reusable coffee filter, cheese cloth and paper coffee filters.
- Jar with lid.
- High proofed alcohol. Something high proof 151 or Everclear.
- Dark dropper bottles or other bottles for storage.
Method #1:
- Fill bottle/jar with high proofed alcohol.
- Grind decarbed cannabis and submerge in jar of alcohol.
- Shake for a full 3 minutes.
- Put bottle/jar in dark, cool spot for 3-4 hours.
- Shake again for 3 minutes then return jar to cool, dark location.
- Allow to sit for 3-4 hours.
- Strain with cheese cloth. Repeat and catch liquid in a bowl. It's easiest to tie or use elastics to secure cheese cloth to top of bowl.
- Wring out cheese cloth.
- Strain through paper coffee filter.
- Pour directly into dropper bottles
2nd method:
- Put decarbed cannabis in a freezer bag, place in freezer along with bottle of alcohol.
- Once frozen, grind your buds.
- Mix 1 oz cannabis to 1 quart alcohol. Shake vigorously for 3-5 minutes.
- Return jar to freezer.
- Shake 3-5 every 3-4 hours over the next 3-5 days.
- Allow bottle to rest between shaking, 2-4 hours.
- After 3 days you can strain with cheese cloth. Repeat until clear. If there is any extraneous cannabis, strain through paper coffee filter.
- Pour into dropper bottles.
