A necessity if you want the psychoactive effects in your edibles...
Decarboxylation is a way to turn THCA into THC... In other words you're taking that body buzz and adding a psychoactive effect to your butters or oils. The easiest way to 'decarb' your Cannabis is to pop it into your oven for a little while. I find a turkey oven bag works amazingly to a)hold in the terpenes and to b) aid in keeping the smell out of your abode. To decarb properly, just follow the instructions below...
- Weigh your Cannabis. You're going to want to know how much cannabis you're using so that you can determine the correct amount of oil/butter to use.
- Preheat the oven to 240 degrees Fareheight or 115 degrees Celsius.
- Put your pieces all in one layer on a baking sheet or an oven safe pan.
- Enclose your pan in an turkey oven bag, seal well.
- Bake the cannabis for 30 to 40 minutes stirring every 10 minutes so it bakes evenly.
- Allow cannabis to cool completely before removing the turkey bag. This allows the hot terpenes to settle.
- Open bag and remove Cannabis.
- You are now ready to begin making butter or oil.
